Pilates Hove

My Pilates classes are based on a mixture of the basic principles of Pilates, with contemporary twists from other practices, such as barre and yoga.

Pilates is for everyone, no matter your shape size or age, there will be a pilates practice for you.

Pilates can improve your posture, balance, muscle tone, joint mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension.

Many people use pilates to compliment their training to develop whole body strength and flexibility as well as reduce the risk of injury.

My pilates classes are currently based online or at About Balance.

"Pilates is a movement practice for your mind, body and soul.

When all else fails, just breathe and move"

Pilates classes based in Hove

My classes are for all to try! Pilates is a low impact workout class so can even be done if you are injured. My training was in classical Pilates however my style has evolved through my own practice and through my love of other movement practices – i always say my teaching is classical with a modern twist!

Expect to mobile through your whole body working on strengthening exercises, breath and stretching. You will lengthen and strengthen the muscles in a controlled and mindful manner all whilst having fun!

Expect to be worked, but I encourage all clients to take the class at your own pace and range – you are your best guide after all!

Hove Pilates FAQ

I’m not fit, can I do Pilates?

Yes! Pilates is for everyone and anyone and we all have to start somewhere. No matter you age, fitness level, size or body weight, everyone can join in!

Are Pilates exercises dynamic?

It certainly can be! As a pilates instructor, I like my classes to have a mixture of stretching, strengthening and lengthening. I like to have a flow to my classes and at times there might be some dynamic elements to the practice but I will give you modifications and adaptions if something isn’t quite right for you.

I have lower/upper/ general back pain, can I do Pilates? And can it help?

Firstly you should seek medical advice from a medical professional. If you are not in the acute injury stage and your Doctor is happy for you to exercise, then Pilates can really help. I turned to Pilates when I had a herniated disc and it really helped. If you inform me of your condition I can give you exercises to do. If you are completely new to Pilates and you have an injury, I would recommend a 121 with me first before you join a group class.

Is Pilates appropriate for older adults?

Yes, anyone can do a pilates class, no matter what your age.

I’m a complete beginner to Pilates, can I still do it?

Yes, you can! But it might be best that you have a 121 with me first, let’s chat!

I have an injury, can I do it?

Yes, but let’s chat so we can decide whether we tailor a plan to you in 121’s or we adapt your group classes to suit you and your injury.

Can you come to me and teach me in my home?

Yes! I offer pilates workouts across Hove and Sussex.  Let’s chat

Will Pilates help me lose weight?

It absolutely can do, and helped me to lose weight when I first started it but please advise that this is just one of the benefits of Pilates and not the primary one.

Pilates also benefits your core strength as well as a full body workout. Increasing your core muscles help increase your posture, muscle tone, balance, joint mobility as well as benefiting your mental health by reliving stress and tension.
